Weddings, parties and funerals are banned as schools and churches remain open –President Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has announced
in his 23rd COVID update to Ghanaians that there is an indefinite ban on weddings, parties, funerals and all activities that requires gathering.

President Akufo Addo stated that Ghana’s COVID-19 case situation is getting worse and if care is not taken, the situation will get out of hands as already our hospital facilities are already full hence the decision to place a ban on some social gathering activities.

He reiterated the continual closure of pubs, beaches and nightclubs as a way to curb the further spread of COVID in Ghana.

He said… “For the avoidance of doubts, I want to announce the immediate ban on funerals, nightclubs and parties.”

“All social gathering activities are banned. Workshops and conferences are allowed with strict adherence to protocols. Funeral burials must all be held with the protocols in place,”

Schools, churches and mosques remain open but have all been cautioned to adhere to the safety measure precaution outlined by the Ghana Health Service.
