Ghana has no future, if the youth unemployment situation is not tackled aggressively – Dr. Kwabena Duffour asserts

Former Finance Minister under the erstwhile President Mills administration, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has stated that the country has to tackle and reduce the unemployment rate in the country if we really need to get the economy back.

Speaking in an interview with Bernard Avle on Citi TV, as sighted by, The former governor of the Bank of Ghana asserted that job creation and Youth unemployment is bigger than anything hence the need for the government to tackle it head on.

According to him, on daily basis, the number of graduates who come to him for jobs is massive.

He stated that the situation is getting scary if the youth have no jobs to do and further explained that the country has no future if the youth themselves have no future with their unemployment status.

The former finance minister disclosed that the youth unemployment situation means more to him than even the economy because the youth are the economy and the future of the nation.

Dr. Kwabena Duffuor delivered a public lecture under the auspices of the Institute of Fiscal Studies (IFS) a think tank he founded in Accra on Monday November 29, 2021 dubbed “The Ghanaian Dream: Transforming the Economy Through Job Creation and Opportunities For All”.
