Twitter announces Africa HQ in Ghana

Twitter has announced on Monday 12 April, 2021 that it is now present on the continent and named its Africa Headquarters in Ghana, the tech giant thanked Ghana and President Akufo Addo.

According to Twitter, it chose Ghana because it is “a champion for democracy, supporter of free speech, online freedom, and the Open Internet, of which Twitter is also advocate.”

“Furthermore, Ghana’s recent appointment to host The Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area aligns with our overarching goal to establish a presence in the region that will support our efforts to improve and tailor our service across Africa,” the statement adds.

In response to the announcement made by Twitter, Ghana’s President, H.E Akufo Addo stated that the choice of Ghana as Head Quarters for Twitter’s Africa operation is EXCELLENT news and expressed that Government and Ghanaians welcome very much this announcement and the confidence reposed in our country.
