Celebrated media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah has expressed her profound gratitude on behalf of the conjoined twins to President Akufo Addo for taking up full cost of seperating them after she lunched an appeal for funds on various social media platforms for their surgery.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced that his administration will take up the full cost of a medical procedure to separate conjoined twins at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.
The surgery which is expected to cost about GHC 15 million and carried out over a period of one year, is the first time such a surgical operation will be undertaken in Ghana, according to health officials.
The Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei Opare announcing the decision of government on behalf of the president at the Ridge Hospital on Monday 5 July 2021, indicated that Akufo-Addo has instructed that all resources needed to carry out the procedure should be made available to the hospital without delay.
The lead surgeon for the planned separation of the conjoined twins, Dr Samuel Kaba, said a team of about 160 medical and non medical staff will be involved in the entire process.
