Pressure mounts on Hon. Hawa Koomson to resign over shooting incident at Kasoa.

The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson firing gunshots at a registration centre on Monday, July 20, 2020 at Kasoa has received a widespread condemnation from the public, with some calling for her to resign or get fired by President Akuffo Addo.

Although the Minister for Special Development Initiatives admitted in an interview she fired the shots because she felt her safety was threatened, there have been pressure mounting from Ghanaians and some civil organisation groups to the seat of Government to get her fired and also for her to be prosecuted.

Her act has since been condemned by both Majority and Minority in parliament. Some said under no circumstance of provocation should warrant the warning shots given by the Minister at the said registration centre at Kasoa.

They described the act as unacceptable and an embarrassment to the House, a section of MPs believes she should be sanction whilst others also think she should appear before the Previledges committee in Parliament to answer some questions.
