The Supreme Court in a unanimous decision has dismissed a request to halt Parliament’s consideration of the anti-gay bill.
The nine-member panel led over by Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo, indicated it is not persuaded to grant such an order at this time. Because, the issues mentioned will be addressed in the substantive litigation.
She added … This is the Supreme court ruling in a lawsuit brought by researcher Dr. Amanda Odoi. Who claims that the constitution was violated during the legislative process for the proposed bill.
Dr. Odoi is one of two persons who have filed a lawsuit against the Speaker of Parliament. As well as the Attorney General in relation to the Anti-LGBT Law.
